Outreach to the Bush

Outreach this past weekend was such a rich experience for our family. Although we wondered how the children would respond to camping in the bush, we experienced great grace as a family. The children loved life in the village.

We travelled to an area where 90% of the people had never heard the name of Jesus. We were invited to stay on the village chief's property. The first night Heidi Baker joined us and shared passionately about the love of God for the people and about His desire to give them new life, and heal broken hearts and bodies. Among other healings we saw two deaf people healed, one blind person receive sight, and a cripple walk.

The next day we travelled to the beach to baptize many of those who gave their lives to Christ. What a great joy! On the way there we ended up getting one of the Land Rovers stuck in the mud. A large crowd of Mozambican men from the area helped us get it unstuck. Afterwards 17 of the men also gave their hearts to Jesus.

That night close to 1000 people watched the "Jesus" film and many more committed their lives to Christ.
The village chief and his wife gave their lives to Christ and asked that Iris return to their village to start a permanent work.

For the children it was such a blessing to experience life in the village. They had a wonderful time with the children and the rest of the outreach team.
We are now gearing up for a ten-day outreach that leaves August 6. We look forward to visiting three villages during that time.
